The Opasquia (pronounced O*pas*q*way) Provincial Park is one of the newer provincial parks created in Northwestern Ontario . This park located 185 miles north of Red Lake is accessible by air only. Adjoining the Manitoba border, the Opasquia Park is 1.5 million acres of true beauty. This remote park is a unique, unspoiled roadless destination, where the faint rumble of a jet passing overhead is the only sound of the outside world.

Your Adventure Begins
Guests arrive at Wasaya Airlines in Red Lake , Ontario and fly via Cessna Caravan northbound to Sandy Lake . In Sandy Lake , guests are quickly transferred to float planes and flown into Central Lake located in the Opasquia Provincial Park . At Central Lake guests receive an orientation about the park along with route consultation.

The Choice is Yours
Hundreds of lakes and rivers span the entirety of the Opasquia Park offering guests numerous routes. The majority of paddling in the Opasquia Provincial Park is flat water. However, several challenging whitewater opportunities exist for the experienced canoeist.

When is the best time?
Due to our remoteness, prime time canoeing in the Opasquia Park is between the months of June-September. Weather in the park stabilizes as the summer progresses. The first weeks of June can be unstable with numerous rain showers and the possibility of 40 degree days. July and August often yields numerous 80 degree+ days.
